You know working as a public responder at Maui Memorial Medical Center is good fun. I love helping the people of Maui and the rest of the world there. But something has been bothering me. I’ve always wanted to get into the Maui Fire Department as a volunteer fire fighter. The only thing is they don’t have that program at all. There are people here who wish to serve and train with our fire fighters. I sent an email to the Maui Fire Chief 3 years ago and seems like it has been swept under the rug. I have yet to receive a reply from them. Other states especially in the Southern States have this program and explorers have gone full time with fire departments after completing the mandated training as an explorer. I sure hope the County of Maui and the Maui Fire Department can implement an Explorer program soon. I would really love to join as would many others on Maui. Just something that has been on my mind as of late. I may be out of shape and all, but would love to further my public service background and public relations with the people.
