You know for one thing I’ve been seeing a lot of on youtube AND on Maui as of late has been people BASHING public responders. THAT HAS TO STOP NOW! We work long and hard as a servant to the public. We work double time to fill in vacancies and fill vacation and sick calls. Sometimes we don’t even see our families for weeks at a time due to this. We are HARD WORKING men and women who DESERVE RESPECT. Y’all talking about how corruption has ensued on the public responding agencies on the island of Maui and to ALL Other agencies around the country. Let me tell you something, there will ALWAYS be rotten apples in these agencies. We ARE PEOPLE. WE MAKE MISTAKES. Why bash us and DISRESPECT US?! Don’t let ONLY those bad apples get to you. You can submit complaints on them with their internal affairs staff and commissioners. You can even request a meeting with the chief or managing officer along with that officer or officers to work out your differences. There are also awesome people in those departments and agencies. WE CARE about your safety and well being. We get called to assist in multiple types of incidents and put our lives on the line each day we clock in to the very second before we clock out. As a public responder myself, I’m jet getting so sick and tired of all the hatred going on about what we do and how we do our lines of work. We do what is needed to control and secure the scene and incident site. If we ask you to leave for your safety JUST DO IT! Why get so DISORDERLY and proceed to verbally or physically resist? IT IS FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY!! DO Y’ALL NOT GET THAT?! Ok so say for example there is a plane crash in your area. We arrive and immediately have to evacuate y’all for your safety. If you refuse to leave and die in that instance due to your resistance, it is OUR fault. We move people out of effected areas for your protection. We are not there to bully you in any way shape or form, we are there to ensure that you and your families are safe and sound. For those of you talking smack about police, sheriff deputies, park rangers, security officers, fire fighters, and paramedics GET A DAMNED LIFE! We get so sick and tired of hearing this. So what if we place you in cuffs or restraints, does that ALWAYS mean we are ARRESTING YOU? Hell to the NO! We place you in cuffs or restraints to protect us and yourself. When you hear us say “Sir or Ma’am we are placing you in cuffs for protective purposes only. You are not under arrest. We just are taking necessary precautions to ensure security for both you and me.” Then you yell and scream that you are being arrested for that?!?!! Why? WE ARE JUST DOING OUR JOBS! We do that on a regular basis. Ok and why assault paramedics and fire fighters who are helping you? That is just plain out wrong. Why assault a public responder? Did the fire fighters and paramedics do anything to you that offended you to the point of loosing control and assaulting them? They are JUST DOING THEIR JOBS! I’m just plain out tired of the hatred aimed at us as of late. Ok so during a disaster like the tsunami threats,plane crashes, biological warfare, terror attacks, brush fires, etc and we had to conduct MANDATORY evacuations to protect you as a person and your families. We could of just said, “Ahh screw them they always talk smack about us. Let them die and suffer for what they say about us! They do not deserve to live because they hate us so (censored) much!” HELL TO THE NO!!! We gotta do what we gotta do in order to see that you are safe and sound. This can go on and on and fill up 10 or more pages. Please consider that we are not all bad corrupt people. We do what we have to do in order to protect you and your loved ones.
